Hair Academy

This course would be suited to pupils who would like to pursue a career in the Hair and Beauty Sector.  Many senior pupils who have completed this course have gone on to continue their training at Forth Valley College or secured full time employment in local hairdressing salons.

This introductory course is a mix of theory and practical units and will be based in the fully furnished hairdressing salon within the school.

Pupils will complete units from City and Guilds Level 1 Certificate in an Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector.

This course is open to pupils in S3 or S5/6. S3 pupils will complete the course over 2 years and S5/6 over one year.
 

Pupils will complete the following units:

•    Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector
•    Presenting a Professional Image
•    Shampoo and Conditioning
•    Plaiting and Twisting Hair
•    Styling Women’s Hair 

Pupils will also have taster sessions for the following units:

•    Skin care
•    Hand and nail care
•    Reception Services 
 

Pupils may be asked to attend an informal interview prior to being placed on the course.

All assessments will take place within the school and units are verified by Forth Valley College.  Assessments are a mix of theory questions, folios of work and practical observations.  

Progression:  Pupils over 16 may be able to continue their training at college or with an appropriate training provider or employer.
