Online Payment System

Like most other secondary schools in the area we are aiming to become a cashless school.  There are various reasons for this including equality and security but ultimately this ensures that all pupils are able to be served at the canteen as quickly as possible by swiping their card as the payment method – I’m sure you can imagine how dealing with cash slows the process down dramatically.  Please find attached a letter advising of a new online payment system we will be launching for August.

To set up your account with this system you will require an email address.  Please also ensure that the school have a note of your current email address so that you do not miss out on important information.

When pupils join us in S1 they are provided with a card free of charge.  This card can be topped up online by the parent/carer negating the need for your child to bring any cash to school.  There are however machines located in the canteen and social space where pupils may use cash to top up these cards.

At present we have a large number of pupils who are not using their card.  Can I please ask that all pupils check at home for lost cards and if these cannot be found replacement cards can be obtained from Mrs Mathieson in the canteen for £2.00.  If this poses any problems please contact your child’s Depute Head of House.

Common FAQs

1.    My child is a secondary pupil, what happens if they lose their payment card, or it is stolen?
Often lost cards are handed in to the school office or reception. Your child should inform the main office or reception as soon as they find out they have lost their card. The school staff will inform the parent and make sure the pupil gets fed using a temporary card. Where the pupil is not eligible for Free School Meals, the parent will require to reimburse the school for all food purchased. The lost or stolen card will be deactivated if not recovered and a replacement card will be issued to the pupil. A small charge may be levied at the discretion of the school for the cost of replacement cards.  In all cases where a card is lost or suspected stolen, parents are advised to check spend on the account and raise any concerns with the main office.

2.    Can I monitor what food my child is spending their money on?
Yes, it is recommended that parents check the purchases made on their child’s account and should report any suspicious activity or unexpected transactions to the main office immediately. While this does not happen very often, all reported concerns will be investigated by the school which may mean that pastoral staff discuss this with your child to ensure there are no concerns of bullying or any other related activity. Where any suspicious activity or unexpected transactions are proven to be fraudulent, and not a result of your child lending out their card to a friend to use, then consideration will be given to reimbursing the account for these transactions.
