Chemistry Competition Winners
Great big congratulations to our Chemistry Top of the Bench mid-Scotland section winners: Dean McMahon from S4, Declan Cotter and Peter Wood from S3 and Jordan Mitchell from S2. The boys triumphed with a points tally of 173 – 9 points clear of Dollar Academy as runners-up. The trophy will soon be in the display cabinet (and it’s a beauty). Prizes for the pupils were T-shirts & W.H.Smith book tokens. The school were awarded a sum of money from the college to purchase a piece of equipment and, best of all, the team won an expenses-paid weekend trip to the finals at the Science Centre in London in March with time to take in a show/entertainment for the Saturday night.

Cross Country Championships

Movie Quote Quiz
The correct answer was (of course) Back to the Future (either I or II!). Well done to Steele House who managed the most correct answers. The points will be distributed as follows: Lockhart – 17, Steele – 19, Morrison – 18. Remember, you have to be INNIT to WINNIT!

Target Points
This week the focus of the Target Rewards was ‘Goals’. Throughout the month of November staff have been undertaking the target setting exercise with S3 to S6. This week’s Target Rewards focus issue was intended to complement this activity and as the target-setting exercise was completed, it was possible to award target points to pupils who responded positively and have shown that they are keen to pursue success. Put another way, if a particular pupil is considered to be ‘on target’ or ‘working towards target’ they deserve an extra target point this week.

Graeme High honours former Pupils
Third year Skill Force pupils honoured former pupils who died in the Great War at a series of moving ceremonies in school. The pupils did this as part of their Certificate of Personal Effectiveness in which they must show their commitment to their community. When 17 S3 Skill Force pupils visited the Poppy Scotland Factory back in October, little did they know it would end up six weeks later with them being asked to represent their houses and the school at various commemoration parades and school assemblies. The pupils produced a presentation that was played at each of the remembrance assemblies. The presentation consisted of pictures of their work and images of the Great War from the internet overlaid by the pupils’ presentation of the war poem “On Flanders Fields”. The video also showed them collecting for Poppy Scotland in form classes and building a Poppy Memorial Garden within the school. Each form class were also given poppies produced by the Skill Force pupils onto which remembrance messages and the names of those to be remembered were written. These poppies were then laminated and placed in the Memorial Garden at the heart of the school. Skill Force Instructor Ian 'Mo' Fraser said, “As a former soldier, it was an honour to witness the time, effort, hard work, dedication, enjoyment and obvious satisfaction that the pupils gained from actively completing this challenge. The pupils did great honour to themselves and the Graeme High School Community”. For these pupils to successfully complete a project that got the whole school involved made this an outstanding educational experience.
